Project Thunderball is Wiesmann’s response to the electrified vehicle revolution, also marking a revolution at the heart of its brand, for the first time combining the remarkable characteristics of an electric powertrain with the trademark performance, driving pleasure and styling of a true Wiesmann. The target range of Project Thunderball is 500km, thanks to its state-of-the-art 800V high-voltage architecture providing a maximum 92kWh battery capacity (83kWh available) – uniquely high for a roadster. Powered by twin electric rear-mid mounted motors delivering up to 500kW (680hp) to the rear wheels and 1100 Nm of torque, bringing phenomenal straight-line performance and a targeted 0-62mph (0-100km/h) sprint acceleration time of 2.9 seconds, for an unrivalled exhilarating drive which the owner will never tire of.

This is the culmination of years of design excellence and engineering innovation. Established in 1988, Wiesmann manufactures cars for the purist in all of us. Best known for combining German innovation, engineering and design with classic British elegance and style, Wiesmann has not deviated from its founding vision, resulting in hand-built, bespoke vehicles that have been – and will continue to be – recognised by connoisseurs as some of the world’s most iconic sports cars. The all-new Wiesmann Project Thunderball will build upon that legacy and propel itself elegantly into the future. Project Thunderball is a remarkable moment in time – a project that signifies a true revolution taking place not just at the heart of the Wiesmann brand but across the automotive world. Wiesmann will be the first to market, anywhere in the world, with an all-electric, two-seater convertible.

The world-first all-electric convertible roadster will be crafted from advance carbon fibre, weighing in at little more than 1700kg (3747lb), with a power to weight ratio of 2.5kg per HP, bringing remarkable agility and handling more than worthy of the Wiesmann badge. Project Thunderball is available to order, with pricing from 300,000 Euros. One of the first models of Wiesmann’s hotly anticipated all-electric roadster ‘Project Thunderball’ went under the hammer at the prestigious amfAR Gala Cannes, raising 700,000 Euros to support the vital work of amfAR in research into, and awareness of, the global fight against HIV and AIDS. Held at the world-renowned Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc, the Gala marked the public debut of the world-first all-electric Wiesmann, which will be finely handcrafted at the company’s ‘Gecko’ factory, a stunning state-of-the-art facility in Dülmen, Germany.

Wiesmann GmbH is a German automobile manufacturer that specialises in hand-built custom convertibles and coupes. The company, which has its factory in Dülmen, was founded by brothers, engineer Martin Wiesmann and businessman Friedhelm Wiesmann, in 1988. The business was temporarily closed in May 2014, and following a buyout by London based investor Roheen Berry who took over as CEO, it is set to return with a new model, powered by a BMW M division-sourced V8 engine. The relaunch of the Wiesmann brand has more than one model, including an electric vehicle, in the pipeline and the pre-development phase of the car has been completed. In its previous era, Wiesmann used BMW six-cylinder engines to power its MF models, until the introduction in 2003 of the GT MF4, which used BMW’s 4.8-litre V8, and the MF 5, which used the M5’s 5.0-litre V10.
