The Changan UNI-K is a mid-size crossover SUV made by Changan from 2020. Chang’an Automobile (Group) Co., Ltd.[1] is a Chinese state-owned automobile manufacturer headquartered in Chongqing, China. Its principal activity is the production of passenger cars, microvans, commercial vans and light trucks. Chang’an designs, develops, manufactures, and sells passenger cars sold under the Chang’an brand and commercial vehicles sold under the Chana brand. It operates joint ventures with Ford (Changan Ford), and Mazda (Changan Mazda) which respectively produce Ford and Mazda branded passenger cars for the Chinese market.

The Changan UNI-K was first previewed by the Changan Vision-V Concept unveiled at the 2020 Beijing Auto Show in September 2020, and was rumored to be called the UNI-V before the official reveal. The production version of the Changan UNI-K was introduced at the 2020 Guangzhou Auto Show. The UNI-K has a turbocharged 2.0-liter engine that gives 229 horsepower. It is also equipped with an eight-speed automatic transmission by Aisin and all-wheel drive system.

Under the hood, there is a 2.0L turbocharged four-cylinder gasoline engine good for 229 hp and and 360 Nm, paired to an Aisin 8-speed automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. Inside, the three connected LCDs are able to show information about tire pressure, navigation, speed, multimedia, gear and etc. Besides, the 12.3-inch console-mounted display adopts Corning Gorilla cold-bent glass with anti-reflective and anti-scratch coating, and supports gesture control and OTA (over-the-air) upgrades.

The UNI-K was first previewed as Changan Vision-V concept at the Beijing Auto Show in September 2020, and its production version debuted at the Guangzhou Auto Show in November 2020. Mechanically, the UNI-K is based on the Changan CS95 SUV but with an extended wheelbase. It measures 4,865mm in length, 1,948mm in width and 1,700mm in height; while having a wheelbase of 2,890mm. Compared to this, the UNI-T is 4,515mm long, 1,870mm wide and 1,565mm tall with a 2,710mm wheelbase.

Chang’an is considered to be one of the “Big Four” Chinese automakers (along with SAIC Motor, FAW Group, and Dongfeng Motor Corporation), and manufacture of 3 million units in 2016 saw the company rank fourth among China’s automakers by production volume. It is China’s second most popular car brand, with 1.4 million Changan cars sold in 2016. A subsidiary of Changan, Chongqing Changan Automobile Company, is listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (but is also state controlled). In 2017, Changan announced that it will only manufacture and sale fully-electric vehicles by 2025, ending the production and sales of fuel-combustion vehicles (gasoline and diesel vehicles) and hybrid vehicles (including plug-in hybrids) by then.
