Following the stunning debut of the Piëch Mark Zero electric sports car concept at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show, progress is being made on the production model under the project name Piëch GT. In September 2021 the Piëch Automotive began testing the Piëch GT4 and the car is expected to go into production mid 2024. Piëch Automotive is an electric car manufacturer based in Zürich, Switzerland, founded in August 2017 by Anton “Toni” Piëch and Rea Stark Rajcic. The production version is expected to do zero to 60 mph in under three seconds, and 0 to 124 mph clocks less than nine seconds. Piëch says it’s working with Chinese company TGOOD on a proprietary charger that can refill 80% of the battery in five minutes.
As early as mid-2024, the new Piëch GT is to be launched on the market as the first vehicle in a product family of three variants, all of which, with their Piëch DNA, will transport typical sports car handling into the electric age. Battery cell development, which had originally commenced in China, has since been shifted geographically closer to Europe. At the same time, rapid battery charging and energy recovery remain a strong argument for the electric sports car. The move to the new test center near Memmingen in southern Germany marked another milestone for the young Swiss company, enabling it to continue to efficiently drive forward development.

While three electric motors and 450 kW are certainly no groundbreaking novelty, the information on the battery may be understood as such: Piëch is still sticking to the goal announced in 2019 of being able to charge the battery to 80 per cent in only five minutes. The GT is powered by three synchronous motors, which are said to have a system output of 450 kW. The sports car is expected to be able to accelerate to 100 km/h in less than three seconds. The range is supposed to be 500 kilometers. The all-electric Piëch GT can be charged to 80 percent capacity in eight minutes at any CCS2 fast charging station, while a fast charger specially developed by TGOOD enables charging in under five minutes.
Piëch is a Swiss sports car company, combining its European heritage & experience with innovative technology, to deliver a car for those who want to be in the moment. Former Tesla Director of Central Europe Jochen Rudat is in charge of Piëch’s sales division. The company plans 60 in-house sales outlets, just as Tesla has built, and it has already signed outside firms to provide aftersales service. The entire vehicle concept is designed and engineered for lean manufacturing with external partners without vertically integrating any production in the company. Anton Piëch, son of Ferdinand Piëch, former CEO of the Volkswagen Group and great-grandson of Ferdinand Porsche, founded the Swiss electric car manufacturer Piëch Automotive in 2017 with industrial designer Rea Stark Rajcic.
