German electric-vehicle startup company E-Legend has shown its EL1, carbon-tubbed coupé electric motors that pays tribute to the Audi Quattro S1 rally car, ahead of production getting underway next year. The EL1 is created as a reinterpretation of the rally legend Audi Sport Quattro from the 1980s Rally Group B era. The coupe combines cutting-edge technology with a passion for motorsport and retro-futuristic design. In addition to the unparalleled history of its creators, the special features of the EL1 lie in its design, its suitability for both the racetrack and day-to-day driving, its technology, its highly efficient manufacturing process and its premium quality.
With an output of 600 kW / 816 hp and the coupé weighing just 1,680 kilograms it accelerates to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds. The sprint from a standstill to 200 km/h is achieved after 8.5 seconds. A top speed of around 300 km/h can be reached. At least two laps of the Nürburgring Nordschleife with record ambitions are feasible on one battery charge. Together with Roding Automobile, a technological specialist, a modern supercar has been created. Under the redesigned body, the carbon monocoque, all-wheel drive, a 90 kWh battery and three electric motors are joined to create a breathtaking symbiosis of power and driving pleasure.
Standard and Sports modes are the only two driving modes available to maintain the spirit of simplicity, a lift system will be available to allow driving on uneven road surfaces. The interior will come with all the necessary amenities including a multimedia system, Bluetooth, power windows, reverse camera and parking sensors. Fast charging of the 90 kWh battery is possible with a 300 kW DC charger, a 22 kW AC/DC onboard charging converter will allow for fast charging at home. To lower the center of gravity, the battery cells are arranged in a “T” shape along the center tunnel and behind the first row of seats.
From 2022, the EL1 will be hand-built in a small series of 30 units. The price per vehicle is 890,000 euros plus VAT. The company also said that two further rally-inspired models will follow in the future, both with the same production run of 30. E-Legend, which has shown the first completed prototype at the Munich motor show, says the rally-inspired EV has a 248-mile range, can do 0-62mph in just 2.8sec and will be able to complete the Nürburgring Nordschleife twice when driven in its power-hungry Sport Plus mode. ELEGEND AG is also planning EL2 and EL3 models, also limited to 30 vehicles each. The ELEGEND AG, which is almost ready to launch, is still looking for supporters.
