The 2021 Acura RDX will be offered in a limited-run PMC edition that will be hand-built at Acura’s Performance Manufacturing Center (PMC) in Ohio and will be limited to just 360 examples, each of which gets an individually numbered serial plate on the console alongside the NSX. A 200,000 square foot purpose built manufacturing space, it houses a handpicked team of the best Acura Performance Manufacturing Center technicians from around the world. This facility produces each and every NSX – and now every PMC Edition vehicle. The Acura RDX is Acura’s first compact luxury crossover SUV but its third generation, the Acura RDX is built on its own platform according to Acura.

The 2021 RDX PMC Edition will be hand-built alongside the NSX from which it borrows its blazing paint. The hand-built car is stocked with a potent supply of driver-focused comforts, blistering power and innovative technology. The Adaptive Damper System, NSX Thermal Orange Pearl paint, Ultrasuede®-trimmed sport seats with orange contrast stitching, and heated steering wheel create a high-end performance experience unlike any other. A numbered PMC Edition badge verifies the exclusivity and precision crafted quality. Acura’s Thermal Orange Pearl, was introduced on the NSX supercar in 2019, is one such color. Resembling the same hard angles and now a similar shade of orange as a McLaren supercar iconic Papaya Orange.

The RDX PMC edition will combine the best of the A-Spec and Advanced package features and also gains a PMC-edition look including black 20-inch alloy wheels and black chrome exhaust tips, among other black accents on the outside of the car, while orange stitching runs throughout the interior. The Acura RDX PMC edition will also have a 10.5-inch head-up display, 16-way power-adjustable front seats, a heated steering wheel, and heated front and rear outboard seats. It’ll come standard with Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD). The PMC Editions combine the best of both the legitimately luxurious Advance Package and the A-Spec appearance pack, melding the formers adaptive dampers, 360-degree camera, and 10.5-inch color HUD with sterner styling touches. And it wouldn’t be a proper limited edition without a bevy of special touches, including gloss black highlights everywhere, or exclusive, 20-inch black alloy wheels.

The 2021 Acura RDX does not change anything mechanically; the same 272-horsepower, 280-lb-ft 2.0-liter turbo I-4 from the rest of the RDX lineup sends power to all four wheels by way of a 10-speed automatic. Like all RDXs, the PMC Edition derives power from a 2.0-liter turbo-four. Its 272 horsepower and 280 pound-feet of torque travel through a 10-speed automatic to Acura’s Super Handling All-Wheel Drive (SH-AWD), amplifying traction with the aid of all-season performance tires. The Super-Handling AWD system that comes standard proved to be useful in such situations. Despite the RDX not having sticky tires, road-surface contact only came into question at higher speeds during sharp turns. The 272 horses the Acura has on tap are plenty satisfying, especially for the practical use of a family luxury SUV.
