Fisker’s back! The niche automaker returns in 2022 with an intriguing electric SUV. The Ocean is the first in a trio of electric vehicles Fisker says it has planned for the coming years, with production of this crossover beginning in the second half of 2021. Most customers will receive the vehicle in 2022, Henrik Fisker said at the Ocean’s debut. It is said to have a range of up to 300 miles enabled by an approximately 80 kWh battery, and that range, along with the starting price of less than $40,000, set it apart from luxury competitors such as the Jaguar I-Pace and Audi e-tron in both price and range. It costs just over a thousand more than the Tesla Model 3. The Ocean electric SUV isn’t slated to reach its first customers until 2022.
In addition to showing the vehicle silently cruising around, the automaker also shared details about its multi-link rear axle suspension, which is attached to an isolated subframe to reduce vibrations and cabin noise. The cargo space has up to 25 cubic feet of space, and the rear window can be lowered so that longer items can stick out the back. The base all-wheel-drive Ocean SUV will ship with more than 300 horsepower. Fisker will also offer ultra-higher performance version, also all-wheel drive, and targeting a zero-to-60-mph time under three seconds. its battery pack will have at least an 80.0-kWh capacity to make possible a range of up to 300 miles, although that number still needs to be tested and verified by the EPA.

The instrument panel is displayed on a small screen behind the steering wheel. There are two wireless chargers and a head-up display which Fisker says can display lyrics as a song is playing. Fisker hinted to autonomous features in the car when he pointed out the radar in the front grille, but didn’t expand on the capabilities of the system.
The look of the SUV is “dramatically sculpted” with a “futuristic, elegant muscular look” and “captivating design touches that have been traditionally reserved for supercars.” By pressing a button, the roof opens in some way to create “an extended open-air atmosphere.” The vehicle’s California Mode will open every window and panel with one button. The fascia includes styling that makes it look like a traditional grille made of a small, center high-mounted radar, behind glass where a parametric pattern dominates the lower front. The inlets in the corners send cool air to the brakes and other areas. There will be a spacious interior with a large display and a dashboard with an intuitive user interface. The Fisker Ocean measures 182.7 inches long, 76 inches wide, and 63.6 inches high, with 20 cubic feet of trunk space.
As of May 2021, the company has received more than 16,000 reservations for the Fisker Ocean SUV. In June 2021, Fisker finalized its manufacturing deal with Magna Steyr, with production on the Fisker Ocean to begin in November 2022 at Magna’s facility in Graz, Austria. Fisker Inc. is an American electric vehicle automaker founded by Henrik Fisker and his wife Geeta Gupta-Fisker. Launched in 2016 and based in Southern California, Fisker Inc. was preceded by Fisker Automotive (founded in 2007 by Henrik Fisker), which produced the Fisker Karma. Fisker now plans to unveil the production version of the Fisker Ocean at the LA Auto Show in November 2021. Fisker Inc. is developing the Fisker Ocean, an all-electric SUV made from recycled and vegan materials, with an estimated range of 300-350 miles.
