In the SUV segment, Audi is heading into the 2022 model year with the edition models Audi Q8 competition plus. Optional equipment for the exterior and interior add even more appeal to the biggest members of the Q family. The appearance package black plus makes the S line exterior package stand out even more with its dynamic look for the Q8. The black Singlegrame grille including the gills and frame as well as black Audi rings and clips really set the front of these two edition models apart. Dark tones, specific color accents such as optional red decorative stitching on the seats and steering wheel and the carbon decorative inlays that are familiar from the S-Models also characterize the interior of the new Audi Q8 edition models.
A new carbon package, already available as an option for the Audi Q8 competition plus, the Singleframe mask is also glossy black. Both vehicles are delivered on 21″ aluminum wheels. This is complemented by a carbon insert for the shifter. The Audi Q8 can be ordered with optional 22″ wheels and the Q8 even with 23″ wheels. The carbon bumper of the Audi Q8 really highlights the sporty nature of the SUV. Both edition models are equipped with red brake calipers and welcome passengers with an LED projection of the S logo. Audi Q7 and Q8 competition plus will be available to order on the German market in June from 84,500 euros for the Audi Q8 competition plus. Delivery will begin in late summer 2021.
The Audi Q8 is a mid-size luxury crossover SUV coupé made by Audi that was launched in 2018. It is the flagship of the Audi SUV line, and is being produced at the Volkswagen Bratislava Plant. BMW launched its crossover coupe in 2008, the BMW X6, and Mercedes-Benz followed suit in 2015 with the GLE-Class Coupe. Audi never made a direct competitor but had been planning to once the new bodystyle became a sales success for other brands. SUVs, particularly in the luxury segment, are increasingly popular, and the Q8 is expected to sell in higher numbers than the A8. For the 2022 model year, all Q8s will come with blind-spot monitoring, and the base Premium trim’s Convenience package will include a heated steering wheel and a 360-degree parking camera.
The Audi Q8 features full-laser headlamps and taillamps, the first-ever in a crossover or SUV. The interior features the knob-less MMI system, three touch screens and an enlarged virtual cockpit which has a fully digital instrument cluster. Additionally, both haptic and acoustic feedback are provided in response to user inputs. The Q8 is slightly shorter than the Q7 in terms of both length and height, but is slightly wider. It also has less cargo space than the Q7 due to its sloped roofline, and unlike the Q7, the Q8 is not available with third-row seats. According to the Volkswagen Group’s product strategy the Audi Q8 shares its platform with the Lamborghini Urus, among other products. The engine is shared with the RS 6 C8 and RS 7 4K8, a 4.0 litre Biturbo V8 mild-hybrid petrol unit with 591bhp and 800Nm (590 lb-ft) of torque. Like the SQ8, performance is sent through the 8-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox (ZF 8HP90) to its quattro all-wheel drive system.
