Design and performance: Those are the key features of the refinement range of NOVITEC for the Ferrari F8 Spider. A sporty designer outfit made from lightweight yet high-strength naked carbon and tailor-made wheels up to 22 inches in diameter on the rear axle make the open-top sports car even more exceptional. The NOVITEC engine specialists developed various performance upgrades for the 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8 engine with outputs of up to 590 kW / 802 hp, which sling the two-seater to 100 km/h in just 2.6 seconds on the way to a new top speed of over 340 km/h. The NOVITEC range also features high-performance exhaust systems in various variants including the superlight INCONEL version with 999 fine-gold plating, sports springs and a hydraulic front lift system as well as exclusive cockpit refinement options.
The F8 Spider is an open-top variant of the F8 Tributo with a folding hardtop as seen on its predecessors. The top takes 14 seconds for operation and can be operated with speeds up to 45 km/h (28 mph). The F8 Spider features large air intakes on its rear haunches, moved rearward compared to the ones in the 488 Spider for improved airflow to the engine. The Spider’s drivetrain is shared with the Tributo. The engine has a lighter crankshaft, flywheel, and connecting rods and weighs nearly 18 kg (40 lb) less than the engine in the 488 Spider. Performance figures include acceleration from 0–100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds and from 0–200 km/h (124 mph) in 8.2 seconds. Top speed is unchanged from the coupé at 340 km/h (211 mph). Dry weight of the Spider is 1,400 kg (3,086 lb). The boot capacity allows for 200 litres (7.1 cu ft) of luggage space.
Novitec, located in Stetten, Bavaria, Germany, is a tuner that specializes in modifications for Italian marques such as Ferrari, Fiat and Alfa Romeo. In 2007 Novitec also spawned Novitec Tridente, an arm of the business dedicated to Maserati tuning. Another division of the company, Spofec, focuses on tuning Rolls Royce vehicles. Novitec modifications are generally focused on performance oriented parts that improve the way Ferraris brake, handle and accelerate. In 2004 Novitec unveiled their first project: a twin-supercharged Ferrari 360 which made 565 hp (421 kW), up significantly from the stock number of 400 hp (298 kW).
