With a modern, expressive design and premium, intuitive technology, the 2022 Buick Enclave joins the redesigned Envision and new Encore GX in offering everything today’s SUV customers want: performance, design, driver-assistance technologies, connectivity, and passenger and cargo versatility. The 2022 Buick Enclave’s enhancements elevate the design and driving experience that premium SUV customers have come to expect and appreciate. After nearly 15 years as one of the segment’s pioneering premium SUVs, the Enclave continues to reward customers by offering more style and substance. The 2022 Buick Enclave’s unique personas, such as the Avenir trim – Buick’s ultimate expression of refinement – and the Sport Touring appearance package, give buyers dynamic options to best fit their lifestyles.
Buick has given its flagship SUV a host of enhancements and upgraded its styling for 2022, and the result is a sleeker look and improved value. New headlamps and taillamps, reworked front and rear bumpers, and updated wheel designs give the three-row family hauler a more modern look. More driver-assist features are standard now, including previously optional technologies such as automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, and automatic high-beam headlamps. To aid in parking, the Enclave now also comes with rear parking sensors and rear cross-traffic alert as standard. Adaptive cruise control remains optional. Inside, the center console has been tweaked and now features a push-button shifter that’s similar to that in the smaller Envision crossover.
2022 Buick Enclave will still be available in either front- or all-wheel drive. Avenir models will offer an available continuously damping suspension in a bid for a more luxurious ride. To keep up with the times, the Enclave’s standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto can now operate wirelessly. Other changes are minimal, and the Enclave retains its 310-hp 3.6-liter V-6 engine and nine-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive optional. While not as comprehensive as the updates to the 2021 Buick Envision, the Enclave is getting a revised look along with new features for 2022 that should help it better compete in the crowded premium and near-premium three-row SUV class.
The Buick Enclave is a mid/full-size three-row crossover SUV launched in 2007 for 2008 model year. The Enclave replaced both of Buick’s SUVs, the minivan-based Rendezvous and the truck-based Rainier, as well as the Terraza minivan. In 2014, the Enclave was the top-ranked “Affordable Midsize SUV” in U.S. News & World Report. The Enclave, the Saturn Outlook, the GMC Acadia, and the Chevrolet Traverse all share the GM Lambda platform. The Enclave was previewed at the 2006 North American International Auto Show, officially as a concept car, making it the first Lambda vehicle to be displayed. The Enclave is partially based on the Buick Centieme concept shown at the 2003 Detroit Auto Show. The Enclave is positioned somewhere between mainstream and entry-level luxury brands.
