At its heart, the new QX80 is powered by Infiniti’s 5.6-liter V-8 that makes 400 horsepower and 413 pound-feet of torque paired to a 7-speed automatic transmission. Equipped with rear-wheel drive as standard, or available with Infiniti All-Mode Four-Wheel Drive, the new 2022 QX80 is as capable and comfortable as ever. The new 2022 Infiniti QX80 has been significantly enhanced with a widescreen, high-definition 12.3-inch Infiniti InTouch display that includes wireless Apple CarPlay and USB-based Android Auto compatibility. Standard on all grades, the new display includes navigation with lane guidance and Infiniti’s InTouch Services. Leather-appointed seats in three rows, heated front seats and second-row captain’s chairs are standard. An all-new wireless smartphone charger is included along with a Bose Premium Sound system and Intelligent Cruise Control to support the driver.
In 2021 for the 2022 model year, Infiniti updated the QX80 featuring an all-new infotainment system and a 12.3 touchscreen display, replacing the dated two-screen setup. The QX80 also features new climate control switches, wireless charging, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay with Navigation standard is included with the QX80 and Infiniti’s InTouch connected services. The interior revision is almost identical to the related Nissan Armada with its 2021 refresh. The QX80 Monograph Concept was a design study that previewed a significant second facelift to QX80 for the 2018 model year, launched in December 2017. It retained its 5.6 liter V8 engine and basic architecture. The facelift has redesigned grille, hood, new LED headlamps, and full LED taillamps with bumper-installed rear turn signal lights.
The Infiniti QX80 (formerly called the Infiniti QX56 until 2013) is a full-size luxury SUV built by Nissan’s luxury division Infiniti. The QX80 shares a platform with the Y62 series Nissan Patrol, a full-size SUV also known as the Armada in North America. The Infiniti QX56 (JA60) was a full-size sport utility vehicle (SUV) sold under the Nissan-owned Infiniti luxury brand. It was based on the Nissan Armada full-size SUV, and shared the F-Alpha platform with the Nissan Titan pickup truck. The QX56 was unique to the United States, Canada, Russia, Oman, Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. It was also the first Infiniti built in the United States. Development on the Infiniti JA60 began in early 2000 alongside the Nissan WA60. A final design by Masato Takahashi was reached in early 2001, with an August 2001 design freeze for early 2004 start of production.
The new ‘PREMIUM SELECT’ grade brings a series of exterior trim enhancements first seen on the limited-run 2020 QX80 ‘Edition 30.’ Dark chrome and black highlights the QX80’s front grille, fender vents, door mirror caps and rear tailgate strip. The commanding stance is heightened with the fitment of dark chrome 22-inch forged alloy wheels. Three stylish interior trim colors are also available; including ‘Graphite’ and new ‘Truffle Brown’ and ‘Sahara Stone’ with a revised Matte Brown accent trim. A new ‘SENSORY’ grade sits at the top of the revised QX80 line-up. Occupants will experience a sumptuous cabin featuring quilted semi-aniline leather-appointed seats, Charcoal Burl trim and a new graphite tricot headliner for a handcrafted, tailored feel. The exterior features stylish 22-inch forged alloy wheels and chrome mirror caps, both of which add to the QX80’s elegant appearance. Infiniti’s Hydraulic Body Motion Control System is also included for enhanced cornering stability and a smoother ride at all speeds.
The Infiniti QX80’s entry-level ‘LUXE’ grade features a range of standard driver-assist technologies available as standard. Blind Spot Intervention® (BSI®), Lane Departure Prevention (LDP), Distance Control Assist (DCA), a Rear Seat Belt Reminder and an updated Intelligent Cruise Control system are all included, while Android Auto™ and Apple CarPlay™ continue to bring enhanced connectivity across the QX80 range. All grades now feature the second generation of Infiniti’s innovative Smart Rearview Mirror (SRVM) system. SRVM, which first appeared on the QX80 with the model’s last major update in 2018, switches between a regular mirror and an LCD monitor to display a high-definition image from a rear-mounted camera. It enables drivers to see clearly when passengers, cargo or lighting conditions obstruct the driver’s rear view. A wider 9.6-inch diameter display, high resolution camera and LED Flicker Mitigation Technology ensure enhanced visibility for added confidence behind the wheel.
Infiniti is the luxury vehicle division of Japanese automaker Nissan. Infiniti officially started selling vehicles on November 8, 1989, in North America. The marketing network for Infiniti-branded vehicles included dealers in over 50 countries in the 2010s. As of 2020, there were 25 markets served by new car dealers. The main markets are the U.S. and China (excluding Hong Kong and Macau). In January 2018, chief executive Hiroto Saikawa announced that the Infiniti brand would be transformed into an electric brand, with all new vehicles either being hybrid or all-electric by 2021. With its QX60 crossover (formerly known as JX35) Infiniti began to produce vehicles outside Japan. In 2014, it started producing two models in Xiangyang, China, a plant operated by Nissan’s joint venture with Dongfeng Motor. In 2020, Infiniti relocated its headquarters from Hong Kong, China to Yokohama, Japan.
