The PGO Hemera coupe was launched at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. PGO uses the same chassis, engine, and interior across the model line-up; only the fiberglass-bodied exterior is changed, keeping the weight between the three models fairly close to a lightweight 2160 lbs (990kg). With its roof, the Hemera is the heaviest PGO, weighing in at 2233 lbs (1013kg), putting it in competition with the likes of Lotus and Morgan. The Hemera seen here has a Peugeot-sourced, mid-mounted engine producing 140 hp. PGO began using BMW-sourced 1.6 liter DOHC Valvetronic turbo engines from the MINI Cooper S beginning in 2012, bumping power output to 180 hp. PGO manages to keep the car athletic by keeping the weight down. While most sports cars of its size will weigh somewhere around 3,000 pounds, this one just blips above 2,000 at a final weight before passengers of 2,160. Combining those attributes provides a very economical 19mpg combined.
PGO Automobiles is a French car manufacturer, producing exclusive series’ of sports cars. The brand operates in the same special market as Wiesmann, and Donkervoort. Their cars are considered an appropriate solution for connoisseurs seeking individuality and style. The French brand was launched in 1980 by three avid automobile fans: the brothers Patrick, Gilles and Olivier Prévôt whose initials formed the brand name: PGO. PGO began production by manufacturing replicas but soon moved on to substantiating their own designs into full-scale vehicles. By 2005 51% of the company had been purchased by subsidiaries of the Al-Sayer Group, whose financial support allowed increased product research and development and resulted in the Cévennes roadster. The Cévennes was notably featured in the video game World Racing 2.
